Effective Communication
This session will focus on interpersonal communication in small groups and between groups, using a variety of media, including speaking, written documentation, visual aids and presentation of quantitative information. This module will cover strategies for running and participating in productive meetings, developing content for formal presentations, assertive communication, and communicating about organizational culture as part of the pre-work materials to allow for more reflection and practice before meeting together in person. This will allow for better time management of speech anxiety and more in-person time to refine and adapt materials based on audience analysis, speaker goals and situational analysis.
Leading Agile Organizations
This session will cover fundamentals of organizational leadership and an overview of general management theories such as organizational behavior management and management by objectives. It will also include self-evaluation of leadership skills and styles utilizing industry tools. Specific topics might include situational leadership, leader-member exchange (LMX), transformational versus transactional leadership, emotional intelligence, ethical decision-making, and continued learning of leaders. The approach will be holistic (360 review process). There will be an increased emphasis placed on transactional leadership and transformational leadership with the intent being increased thought and discussion about these theories.
Leading Agile Teams
This session will focus on motivating people and assessing their performance. This will include factors affecting individuals’ job satisfaction and organizational commitment as well as contemporary trends related to managing stress in the workplace. Performance appraisal techniques and issues related to organizational justice will also be included. Part of this module will be devoted to managing work teams, such as decision-making processes, effective team-building strategies, and enhancing group work productivity.
Managing Change
This session will be based on your organizational culture. Focusing on how to set and modify appropriate goals, plan and manage change, and explore the role of leaders in the process. This module may include specific developmental interventions such as structural design modifications, business process redesign, appreciative inquiry or knowledge management with the intention to build a high performing organization, and organizational resilience to changing environments, consistent with the (Company Name) culture and values. A greater focus will be placed on delivering feedback, specifically aimed at how you deliver bad news and having employees practice this. More time will be directed towards what you can do when your project fails (or does not go as anticipated) and ways in which to try and get things back on track. This session will also include opportunities for discussion on organizational culture, including but not limited to how to develop and promote it.
Project Management
This session will present the importance of project management in agile organizations. Strong project management skills are necessary for both large and small projects, as well as the ability to manage several projects at one time, regardless of size. This session focuses on the practical knowledge and skills that a project manager must have, such as: collecting data, analyzing project risks, creating a project plan and schedule, managing a budget, task management, resource management, and managing employees.
Evaluating Employees
This session will work with participants on how to evaluate employees. Skill building includes: understanding the importance of getting to know employees and how this will lead to a climate of accountability, change readiness, and alignment with the company mission, vision, and values. As part of this, participants will learn how to develop surveys such as organizational climate surveys. This session will also include how to effectively deliver annual reviews and employee feedback.
Dealing With Difficult People
This session will focus on providing tools for handling challenging interactions with employees. This may include understanding causes of difficult behavior and reactions, recognizing how your attitude and actions impact others, ways to anticipate and prevent conflict, and how to handle stressful situations. As part of this, employees will learn coping strategies for dealing with difficult situations and people, and other ways to handle stressful situations. This session may also include subtopics such as working with different generations, different personalities, and other individual differences. This session will be accomplished via small group exercises and other active learning strategies.
Decision Making
This session will focus on ways to incorporate risk identification, analysis, and mitigation into decision making. Fundamentals of project management and assessment will be covered, analysis of uncertainties, and establishment of appropriate performance metrics. It will include an incorporation of risk assessment and quantitative methods for decision making (introductory level) utilizing discussion-based delivery.
Personal Leadership
The session will introduce Personal Leadership practices to participants. These practices support leaders in putting the knowledge and understanding they are gaining into practice within the workplace, aligning behavior with espoused values. The practices are particularly helpful in the transformational and transpersonal leadership realms.
